With the graduation of Debbie Grey and Deirdre Kosky, Niskayuna High lost the heart of a squad that won the Section II girls gymnastics championship the past two years.
Along with Grey - who won every event in the sectional tournament last year - other individual standouts such as Guilderland's Stephanie Sholtes and Shenendehowa's Jenny Day have also graduated.
The losses to graduation and the inexperience of this year's team figure to rule out a third straight championship for Niskayuna.
It appears the torch is about to be passed to Saratoga. And senior Missy Klein is expected to establish herself as the area's top gymnast.
