Fed: Govt announces 25 pct budget increase for cadets
The federal government has announced a 25 per cent increase in the annual budget forAustralia's Defence Force cadets.
This will guarantee them a uniform, and provide a better administrative structure andmore access to training.
Parliamentary secretary to the Defence Minister, FRAN BAILEY, says the government initiativeswill also include a review of accommodation.
Ms BAILY says too many cadet units around the country manage to exist by scroungingaround for equipment or by being maintained by a nearby Defence base or virtually livingoff the smell of an oily rag.
But she says that has now changed, with the government committed to increasing thefunding of cadets by $6 million to $30 million annually.
