The City of Atlanta this week began exploring self-service card payments for city services, installing two kiosks in its city hall where residents can pay their water bills with credit cards, debit cards and checks. Mayor Shirley Jackson demonstrated payments using the kiosk at a televised press conference. Atlanta is studying adding such services as looking up vital records, paying traffic tickets, license renewals and applying for building permits using the kiosks. Another kiosk is on order.
