General Motors is considering building as many as four low-volume halo vehicles in an effort to boost the image of some of its brands.
The vehicles would be assembled at the automaker's Lansing Craft Centre in Lansing, Mich.
``We can do four different vehicles there for a total production volume of 40,000 units,'' GM North America President Gary Cowger said. ``That's what we have in mind.''
The 2003 Chevrolet SSR pickup will be the first of that group of vehicles produced at the plant. Sales begin in mid-summer 2003, and approximately 3,000 units are expected for the 2003 model year. When full production is reached, …
