ETHICS PANEL CLEARS PATAKIS' VACATION.(CAPITAL REGION)

ALBANY -- The state Ethics Commission said Wednesday that there is no basis for an investigation into its boss, Gov. George Pataki, and his Caribbean vacations with a campaign contributor who has done business with the state.

The Ethics Commission stated: ``The governor's office has been in consultation with the Ethics Commission on this issue and there is no basis for inquiry because the governor followed the ethics guidelines for reimbursement.''
