Fed: Victim support group wants Pell inquiry made public
A victim support group has called for the findings of the inquiry into sex abuse allegationsagainst Sydney Catholic Archbishop GEORGE PELL to be made public.
Under the inquiry's terms of reference, released yesterday, all hearings will be conductedby retired Victorian Supreme Court judge ALEX SOUTHWELL QC in private.
The final report will only be made public if the chairmen of the Catholic Church'sNational Committee for Professional Standards deems it appropriate.
Dr PELL stood aside last week pending an investigation into claims he molested a 12-year-oldboy while working as a trainee priest -- claims he's strenuously denied.
The president of victim support group Broken Rites, CHRIS MACISAAC, says she's increasinglyconcerned whether there'll be a fair outcome in the inquiry.
She says the church didn't even tell the complainant in Dr PELL's case the terms ofreference before they were made public.
