Qld: Cabinet to announce water plan
Queensland's Cabinet is expected to announce a water plan today for the parched Toowoomba region.
And the Cabinet .. which is meeting in Toowoomba .. is also expected to receive a report
from a taskforce looking at ways to tackle the worst drought on record.
The announcement's expected following a heated meeting yesterday between Premier PETER
BEATTIE and Toowoomba residents .. angry over having to go to the polls again over adding
treated effluent to its water supply .. after voting NO earlier this year.
Mr BEATTIE announced last week .. 19 south-east Queensland shires .. including Toowoomba
.. would vote next March on boosting their water suupplies with treated sewage.
